7-UP Biscuits

7-UP Biscuits & Chilli

Sour Cream & 7-up in a biscuit… Who knew!!

If you want fluffy and moist biscuits to go along side almost anything you make, try these. If nothing else, they will be a topic for conversation at the table.

Ingredients

4 cups all purpose flour
2 TBSP baking powder
2 tsp salt
4 TBSP melted butter
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 Cup Sour Cream
1 Cup 7-up or Sprite
1/4 Cup melted butter

Instructions

1
Preheat oven to 375. When it gets to about 200 put your 10" cast iron skillet in the over with 1/4 to 1/2 cup butter. Make sure walls of pan also have butter on them, you can rub butter around the walls before you put the pan in the oven to preheat. Mix together dry ingredients. Cut in 4 TBSP melted butter and sour cream. (I just mixed with a fork.) Add 7-UP and mix well.
2
Turn out on lightly floured surface (I didn't need any flour) and lightly knead a few times. Pat out until 1 1/2 inches thick. I used my rolling pin lightly to make sure it was even.
3
Use biscuit cutter or mug or what ever you like to cut out biscuits. Do not twist the cutter. Go straight down and straight up so your biscuits will rise when baking. Place biscuits in the pan touching each other.
4
Bake at 375 until golden brown on top (they don't get too brown. About 17 minutes. Brush tops with melted butter.
